Accident rate has been declining for the third year in a row and the level of fatal injuries has been decreasing for the fifth year in a row. This is evidenced by the statistics of Rostekhnadzor. In particular, over the past year, the number of accidents at hazardous production facilities decreased by 14.3% - from 175 in 2018 to 150 in 2019, while the death toll fell by 7%, from 177 to 165, respectively.

Accident rate growth

It was recorded at the facilities of the petrochemical and oil refining industries - from 12 cases in 2018 to 19 at the end of 2019. Given that in 2018 the industry showed a 40% reduction in accidents, the results of the past year do not fully reflect the real dynamics. “Obviously, against the background of the modernization of oil refineries, there is no need to talk about any systemic deterioration in the situation with industrial safety in the industry,” said Rostekhnadzor.
